IIST Admission policy for the Academic Year 2009-2010

* The institute shall be open to all Indian citizens. There shall be no religious, social and economic restrictions and conditions whatsoever in admitting or appointing members, students, teachers, and workers.

* No capitation fee shall be charged in any form for admission.

* The Institute shall accept no benefaction that involves conditions and obligations opposed to the spirit and objectives of the Institution.

* The candidates who join IIST to pursue academic programme will be given assistanceship to cover the complete cost of education. The assistanceship includes free boarding, lodging and tution fee waived along with a book grant of Rs.3000/- per semester.

* All such candidates will have to execute a bond with IIST to serve Indian Space Research Organisation for a period of continuous five years on successful completion of the course. The bond paper for executing the bond will be made available at the time of counseling at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Admitted students are to abide with IIST rules.

* The students who complete the academic programme with a minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average ) of 6.5 will be absorbed immediately after the completion of the academic programme, as Scientist/Engineer SC in the pay scale of Rs.15600-39100 (PB-3 with Grade pay Rs. 5400) in ISRO with a service condition of minimum 5 years.



And the great news a year ago when the Indian Institute Of Space Science And Technology started the admission process , the last rank in the general category was in the range 5800.So where are the EMLs going to apply for .
